IVA PETRVALSKA
I first visited Newtonmore 19 years ago, felt a strong connection with the place and have been living here since. I have been drawing, sketching and knitting and I have always been interested in craft since a young age. As a self taught artist, taking part in local art classes has helped me to develop my own style. I have learnt about different techniques, methods, media and styles.

I find inspiration mainly in nature, love water and flowers but also get a lot of motivation from the Sottish landscape - mountains, rivers, reflections and moods. Taking part in the Rail Art project opened up new possibilities for my art as I have never painted figures and faces before. I felt challenged to succeed and produce a poster in traditional style but close to reality.

We don't need to look hard for inspiration. It is all around us.
